Orange traces its roots back to France Télécom, which was established in 1988 when the French government separated the country's postal and telecommunications services. France Télécom acquired the UK mobile operator Orange in 2000 and gradually adopted the Orange brand across its operations, officially changing its name to Orange S.A. in 2013. Today, Orange serves 287 million customers worldwide as of December 2023.
