Wave is a virtual events platform that enables users to build avatars of themselves that can perform in an interactive virtual environment. The concerts are broadcast on major platforms such as YouTube, Twitch, and Facebook, or through its app on gaming consoles, phones, or the Oculus Rift VR headset. As of June 2020, the platform had hosted 50 concerts and planned to expand to new markets such as Japan and China. The platform is free for viewers.
In October 2024, the company announced its return as a VR concert platform, aiming to be a 24/7 entertainment hub and virtual music festival in its new iteration.
Key customers and partnerships
Artists such as Justin Bieber, the Weeknd, John Legend, and Lindsey Sterling have used its platform to host virtual concerts. In April 2020, the company announced partnerships with Warner Music Group and Jay Z’s Roc Nation to produce concerts with their pool of talent.
In January 2023, Wave partnered with VR headset creator Pico to develop a series of immersive 3D concert experiences with world-renowned artists, for Pico's line of consumer headsets.
