Tulip Interfaces, an MIT spinout, offers a no-code manufacturing application platform that allows frontline engineers to build, deploy, and scale digital applications via a drag-and-drop interface. The system can connect data from IoT devices and create applications for a range of use cases such as factory workflow automation, order and material tracking, genealogy and traceability, quality management, compliance audits, and operator training. The platform also provides real-time production insights via manufacturing analytics, which enables users to visualize industrial floor data, monitor machines, and reduce downtime by identifying bottlenecks in real time.

Additionally, it offers capabilities such as edge connectivity for users to integrate with industrial IoT devices on-premise, computer vision for error-proofing, as well as its own range of edge IoT devices for machine monitoring and connectivity.

In September 2023, the company introduced Frontline Co-pilot, a GenAI-powered chatbot powered by Microsoft’s Azure OpenAI, which can answer user queries about data and documents, translate apps, extract text from images, and create analytics.

The company has also expanded globally, establishing its presence across the Asia-Pacific region with a presence in Singapore and strategic partnerships across South East Asia, China, Japan, Korea, and Australia. The company also has a physical presence in Europe, having opened new offices and Tulip Experience Centers (TEC) in Hungary and Germany in 2024.

Key customers and partnerships

The company has partnered with Amazon Web Services and Microsoft for cloud platform services, as well as Vention and Bosch, to create smart workstations by integrating their workstations with the Tulip platform. The platform has been utilized by manufacturers across multiple industries such as contract manufacturing, apparel, aerospace and defense, automotive, medical devices, and consumer electronics. It has built client relationships with global manufacturers such as Kohler, Nautique, Terex, Delta Faucet, Outset Medical, and New Balance.

In April 2023, Tulip entered a multi-year partnership with AWS to collaborate in the areas of analytics, computer vision, and edge computing and enhance Tulip product capabilities and offerings using AWS services. It went on to extend this partnership to further develop its Frontline Copilot, using Amazon Bedrock, a fully managed service that offers a number of foundation models (FMs) from leading AI companies, in April 2024. During the same period, the company also partnered with Rockwell Automation to embed its application platform in Rockwell Automation’s human-machine interface (HMI) software (FactoryTalk Optix).
