Zencastr

Zencastr provides audio podcasting infrastructure that allows the podcaster to record remote interviews in studio quality directly via a web browser. The podcaster must send a Zencastr link to the guest to chat through the platform and later receives a separate audio track from the guest. The platform offers automatic post-production services where all the individual tracks relevant to the podcast will be integrated into a single mixed track with curated audio enhancements. Additionally, the podcaster can edit their tracks on the soundboard as they record. The platform is integrated with Dropbox and Google Drive for storing files. The platform offers the services at no cost to hobbyist podcasters and at a monthly fee of USD 20 for professionals for whom more advanced features (such as a live editing soundboard, 16-bit 44.1k WAV recording, 10 hours automatic post-production per month) are provided.

Zencastr beta tested a video podcasting tool in June 2020, allowing users to record two-way conversations in 720p, which is mixed and rendered through an automatic post-production system at up to 1080p. In February 2021, the company opened its new video tool (HD video recording with high-quality sound) to all users.

The company raised USD 4.6 million in a new seed funding round in February 2021. The company claims that its software is used to make around 6% of all podcasts globally (based on an estimated 800,000 to 1.2 million active global shows). The company further claims that since the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic, it has seen an increase of approximately 147% in podcasting hours.
