Healthtap provides a platform for users to virtually consult doctors for medical needs through video, text or phone calls. The company offers a range of free services including 1) getting personalized answers to anonymous health questions 2) providing access to “patient-asked, doctor-answered” Q&As and 3) getting personalized healthcare guidance from the company’s artificial intelligence-powered (AI-powered) system. The company thus far has provided answers to more than two million “patient-asked” health questions and have shared those answers over seven billion times among others who needed answers for similar questions.
Healthtap leverages AI to interview members and prioritize their symptoms in order to assist doctors. The company’s paid services provide 24/7 direct virtual access to doctors (by text or video) to get medical advice, diagnosis or treatment.
In June 2024, the company announced that it had become an in-network provider for many major insurance plans, including both commercial and Medicare Advantage plans. Additionally, it also noted that its services were now available across all 50 states.
As of August 2024, the company charged individuals USD 129 per visit. It also offered a discounted consultation fee for individuals who become a member of the platform and customized packages for large enterprise customers (with more than 3,000 employees). As of August 2024, members were charged USD 44 per consult and USD 59 per urgent care visit. Platform membership was priced at USD 55 for three months or USD 180 per year.

In November 2024, HealthTap partnered with durable medical equipment (DME) supplier Aeroflow healthcare to offer its services to patients without primary care providers by granting access to medical device prescriptions.
In August 2023, HealthTap partnered with Ubie, a health tech startup, to provide same-day virtual doctor visits. Through the partnership, Ubie's US-based users could connect with a board-certified HealthTap doctor in real time through Ubie’s platform.
In October 2022 HealthTap partnered with Samsung Electronics to make HealthTap’s virtual primary care offering available via Samsung’s Smart TVs across the US.
In October 2021, HealthTap partnered with Health Gorilla to expand patient referral capabilities. Through the partnership, the companies collaborated to expand HealthTap's providers' access to complete medical records of their patients and streamline the exchange of clinical data within their physician referral network.
