MOTIONTAG is a Berlin-based mobility startup that provided a contactless payment solution for public transportation similar to the UK’s ‘Oyster card’ ticketing system. The firm subsequently pivoted its business towards a mobility information provider, aimed at both transport operators and marketers, providing real-time insights on commuter travel behaviors. Its transport analytics platform provides users with 80+ mobility insights and can automatically detect 10+ modes of transportation.
MOTIONTAG specializes in providing insights on customer travel behavior, where its platform can be used to understand different customer profiles in order to enable personalized communication. The platform’s analytical capabilities can be further extended by integrating the mobility information with a customer relationship management (CRM) platform.
MOTIONTAG’s B2C mobility information mobile app is also unique in that it provides commuters with insights into their travel behavior including the most frequent, fastest modes of transport used and their environmental impacts.

As of February 2022, MOTIONTAG’s customers included European transit operators, transport agencies, telecommunication firms, and research institutes including Deutsche Bahn, BVG, and Swiss national railways.
In March 2021, the firm partnered with SkedGo, mobility-as-a-service (MaaS) solutions provider to further enhance the customer experience by providing personalized travel recommendations and the ability to set personal travel goals.
