Malloy Aeronautics, founded in 2013, specializes in the design and production of all-electric vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) uncrewed aerial systems (UAS). The company's product line includes a range of heavy-lift quadcopters capable of carrying payloads from 68kg to 300kg over short to medium-range missions. These platforms offer interchangeable capabilities and greater flexibility compared to traditional methods, while minimizing risk to more expensive assets and human life. Malloy's flagship product, the T-650, is an all-electric heavy-lift UAS with a maximum payload of 300kg and a top range of 30km. The company has also developed other models such as the T-150, which can carry up to 68kg over a distance of 70km, and the T-400, capable of moving 180kg over 70km. Initially focused on last-mile delivery operations, Malloy has expanded its UAS design and functionality to cater to mission-specific airborne systems for extreme and demanding operations. In February 2024, Malloy Aeronautics was acquired by BAE Systems and integrated into FalconWorks, the research and development business within BAE's Air sector. The company continues to operate from its Berkshire, UK base with a workforce of approximately 80 people.
Key customers and partnerships
Malloy Aeronautics has developed partnerships with various military and government entities. The company has supplied T-150 quadcopters to Ukraine for logistics support, including resupplying units across the Dnieper river. The Royal Marines acquired 22 trillion-150 quadcopters for experimentation, while Japan purchased two units for trials. Malloy has also collaborated with the UK Navy and armed forces on various projects. In the US, Malloy's American partner Survice Engineering is under contract to supply the US Marine Corps with the Malloy-made TRV-150C drone for tactical resupply. The company has been working with BAE Systems since 2021 to advance cutting-edge UAS solutions, including the development of the T-650. In September 2023, Malloy and BAE Systems successfully demonstrated the T-600 electric uncrewed demonstrator aircraft launching an anti-submarine torpedo during a NATO exercise.
