Lark Health

Lark Health is an AI-powered digital chronic care management platform specializing in pre-diabetes, type 2 diabetes, hypertension, and behavioral health. Lark claims that it is the only company with an AI-backed diabetes prevention program (DPP) to receive Full Recognition status from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

In addition to the DPP, Lark Health offers programs for weight management, heart health, hypertension management, and stress and anxiety management. The company offers real-time coaching and health tracking services via a mobile app to help patients make behavioral changes and manage their conditions.

It also provides personalized insights by using third-party wearables and connected devices such as the Apple and Fitbit trackers to gather information on weight, daily activity levels, sleep, mindfulness check-ins, and food intake. Lark's service can be integrated with its clients’ existing healthcare infrastructure, allowing them to offer chronic disease prevention and management programs.

Key customers and partnerships

As of May 2024, Lark had served over 2 million users and enrolled more than 50,000 employers. Additionally, its benefits are available to more than 30 million covered lives in the US through partnerships with health plans such as Medical Mutual, Anthem, and Health Partners.

In February 2023, Lark Health partnered with Smart Meter to help health systems support patients with type 2 diabetes. Furthermore, in March 2022, the company partnered with Roche Diagnostics to develop the Heart Health program for the prevention and management of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease and coronary artery disease.

Funding and financials

In October 2021, Lark concluded a Series D funding round of USD 100 million led by Deerfield Management Company, which was used to further research and develop its AI and data science technologies, scale its virtual care integrations to accommodate more payers, as well as to expand into new disease areas and markets.
