US-based Harvest CROO Robotics provides advanced harvesting technology which the company says does the same job as human pickers in a more cost-effective and productive manner. Through algorithms and data collection, Harvest CROO Robotics aims to optimise productivity by employing multiple robotic components to pick strawberries, perform functions such as leaf gathering, visual inspection, picking, and packing. The agribots do the work of 30 humans by picking up to 5 strawberries every second and covering 8 acres daily. The company’s HARV model has 16 smaller steel robots fully equipped with spinning claws, cameras, and flashlights facilitating easy harvesting of strawberries. The company’s agribots include Berry 5 to harvest strawberries and Berry 7, which is its latest addition, still uncommercialised, offering a range of automated solutions.
The company is funded by several major US strawberry industry players, such as Driscoll, Sonoco, Naturipe, and Main Street. The company primarily targets the US strawberry industry and has directed its funds toward improving technology and productivity.
