HelloAva recommends skin and hair care products from selected brands based on information collected through an online quiz and an optional selfie. The information is analyzed using a proprietary algorithm powered by AI and machine learning to identify suitable products which are then passed on to a licensed aesthetician for further validation.
However, unlike other companies, HelloAva charges USD 10 (as of January 2024) at the beginning of the process which can be applied as a credit during purchase. The company also launched a video consultation platform in March 2020 to provide additional human-centric services to customers as a result of increased online activity during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Key customers and partnerships
The company has partnered with several well-known and independent brands that have gone through a vetting process. As of January 2024, HelloAva had sent over 1.6 million skincare consultation messages and over 4.51 million product recommendations.
In June 2019, Unilever partnered with HelloAva to create a personalization tool in Unilever’s “AllThingsHair” website to recommend personalized hair care routines to its customers.
