National Electric Vehicle Sweden (NEVS) is a Swedish car maker that acquired Saab Automobile's assets in 2012 after Saab's bankruptcy in December 2011. The company has focused on developing electric vehicles, continuing the legacy of Saab's automotive innovation. NEVS's most notable project is the Emily GT, an electric sports car developed by a team of former Saab engineers. The Emily GT features four electric motors, one on each wheel, providing a total output of 480 horsepower in its initial configuration. An updated version of the Emily GT was planned with 653 horsepower and 2,200 Nm of torque, capable of accelerating from 0 to 60 mph in 3.2 seconds. The vehicle was designed to have a range of over 1,000 km (621 miles) on a single charge, utilizing a 175 kWh battery. Early prototypes were equipped with a 52 kWh battery from the Saab 9-3. In April 2023, NEVS announced the closure of its product development activities.
Key customers and partnerships
NEVS came under the ownership of Chinese real estate company Evergrande Group in 2019. This partnership was intended to provide financial backing for NEVS's electric vehicle development projects, including the Emily GT. However, Evergrande's subsequent financial troubles in the Chinese property market impacted NEVS's operations.
