Gilmour Space Technologies is a launch services company developing the Eris orbital launch vehicle, a three-stage rocket designed to transport small to medium payloads into orbit. The 82-foot (25-meter) tall Eris rocket features a hybrid propulsion system that combines solid fuel with liquid fuel systems. The rocket's main engine demonstrated a record 115 kilonewtons of stable combustion during qualification testing in November 2022. Eris can carry payloads of up to 305 kilograms into low Earth orbit. The company operates the Bowen Orbital Spaceport in North Queensland, making it one of only three launch providers globally to have a dedicated launch site. In April 2024, Gilmour Space officially opened its Bowen Orbital Spaceport located within the Abbot Point State Development Area. The company received its launch permit from the Australian Space Agency in November 2024, marking a significant milestone as it prepares to conduct Australia's first commercial orbital rocket launch.
