Waverly Diagnostics is a telehealth and remote diagnostic startup focused on helping parents detect pediatric ear infections. Its mobile app uses acoustic signals to detect signs of ear infections through a paper funnel placed at the ear canal opening. Its diagnostic app identifies middle ear fluid, a key indicator of ear infection, by using the smartphone speaker and microphone along with its machine learning algorithms to conduct the assessment. Parents or caregivers can connect to a virtual care physician to prescribe treatments if a child has signs of a potential ear infection. Waverly is preparing for market launch in early 2022. The product does not require any training or specific hardware to use.
The company plans to expand its service offering in pediatric care over the long term by leveraging smartphone sensors. In February 2022, the company raised USD 2.2 million in a seed funding round led by Ambit Health Ventures, which has been earmarked for the launch of its platform in Q2 2022. Initially, the platform will be rolled out to at-home users and then expanded to healthcare providers.
