Xayn is a Berlin-based startup that provides a privacy-first search engine app for smartphones that doubles as a web browser. In contrast to traditional search engines that amass data in central servers, Xayn’s search engine delivers personalization features using on-device AI.

Launched in December 2020, Xayn runs on its proprietary open-source federated (decentralized) learning framework, XayNet. The ad-free and zero-cost Xayn search engine is a showcase for the XayNet framework that the company plans to expand to B2B search applications, allowing enterprise customers to search through their data securely.
