FallCall Solutions offers a software-based personal emergency response system (PERS) known as “FallCall Lite”, which launched on the Apple Watch in 2018. The PERS works as an app-based button which can be activated by voice or touch and is connected to emergency dispatch centers and updates caregivers during emergencies.
FallCall uses a subscription model with a freemium tier which limits usage to the help button, while paid plans cost around USD 20 per month. The company also offers an app called ElderCheck Now to streamline senior and caregiver communication in non-emergency situations.
In December 2018, the company was granted a patent for distinguishing severity of falls on smartwatches, and in January 2020, it was awarded a patent for running fall detection on the background tasks of smartwatches, widening its patent coverage. The patented “FallCall Detect” product is yet to be released.
Key customers and partnerships
In September 2020, FallCall partnered with Trelawear (provider of smart jewelry PERS devices) to develop a jewelry based PERS device on the FallCall Lite app with full integration into the Apple ecosystem.
