District0x provides infrastructure that allows users to create, operate, and govern their own marketplaces and communities developed on blockchains such as Ethereum and Aragon. Decentralized marketplaces created in this manner are called “districts,” which exist as standalone, non-custodial, and censorship-resistant apps within their network. All districts are able to undertake core functions such as listing, search, filtering, ranking, payments, and invoicing.
Every district is constructed using the d0xINFRA Web3 framework, which is a collection of individual smart contracts for the Ethereum blockchain and front-end libraries allocated on its internal file system. The underlying framework, on which every district is built, is open-source, which allows them to add unique features, enhance functionality, and optimize customization via plug-in auxiliary modules.
In August 2017, District0x raised USD 9 million via an initial coin offering (ICO) led by Boost VC.
