The company was founded in 2021 by co-CEOs Mithat Can Ulubay and Ugur Kaya, immigrants from Turkey who met at Goldman Sachs. Flora has built a proprietary lifecycle Assessment tool to calculate the environmental impact of its products and provide transparent insights to customers.
In September 2022, Flora emerged from stealth mode after raising USD 9 million in seed funding from prominent Silicon Valley investors, including Lux Capital, Correlation Ventures, Climate Capital, and Gokul Rajaram. Flora aims to launch its technology-driven sustainable ecommerce marketplace in Q4 2022, catering to the growing base of eco-conscious consumers seeking sustainable options.
