With the mission of bringing equality to education, Elevate K-12 delivers live-streamed instruction to classrooms during school. The company offers classes for elementary, middle, and high school and has a network of more than 200 online instructors in the US. Elevate K-12 offers live, online classroom instruction to groups of 25 (“Tier 1 Instruction”) or small groups of four (“Tier 2 Intervention”). As of June 2022, Elevate K-12 operated in 27 states across the US.
In September 2022, the company launched introductory computer programming courses Java and Python to prepare high school students for higher education in the field of software development and careers in computer science. A month later, the firm launched a special education live teaching program, to address the teaching needs of its existing partner districts. It also planned to introduce the beta program to new markets subsequently. In September 2023, the company introduced Elevate Homeschool, a teacher self-service portal aimed at simplifying the process of matching qualified teachers with classes in need across the US. It also simplifies the teacher selection process.
Key customers and partnerships
In July 2020, Elevate K-12 partnered with IXL Learning to combine IXL’s asynchronous remote learning options with Elevate K-12’s synchronous live teaching offering, and thus offer schools a hybrid solution. In October 2020, Elevate K-12 announced a partnership with Achieve3000, a literacy solutions provider. The partnership allows Elevate K-12’s partner schools and districts to use Achieve3000’s literacy tools on asynchronous days.
In January 2021, the company partnered with Sylvan Learning, a provider of supplemental tutoring services to K-12 students, to offer Sylvan’s teachers the opportunity to work flexible hours throughout the day—teaching for Elevate K-12 during school hours and for Sylvan after school. In February 2021, Elevate K-12 partnered with the University of Phoenix College of Education to provide online teaching opportunities to student-teachers pursuing degrees in education. In March 2021, the company closed a strategic investment led by private equity firm Arsenal Growth Equity and intends to use the funds to expand into more schools and districts and develop Elevate K-12’s live-streaming technology and curriculum.
In June 2021, the company announced that it will partner with school districts across all 50 states as a homeschool provider offering virtual academies for grades 6 to 12. The live teaching option for all core and elective subject areas launches in the summer of 2021.
Funding and financials
In June 2022, the company raised USD 40 million in a Series C funding round led by General Catalyst, which it planned to use for platform development.
