PIXEVIA is a Lithuania-based developer of autonomous stores powered by AI. PIXEVIA’s stores can be accessed by tapping a credit or debit card or using a mobile app at the entrance of the store. The store uses a combination of AI, cameras, and sensors to identify the items picked by the customers before adding them to a virtual basket. The customers can complete the purchase by tapping their card or mobile app at the exit. The store concept can be operated 24/7 and supports manned and unmanned operations. The company has received two EU research grants (2018, 2020) for AI-based smart store development.
PIXEVIA also provides a data platform that supports the operation of its automated stores. The platform can track real-time stock information and supplement store operations by creating out of stock alerts, planogram management, and generating insights such as customer analytics and demand forecasting.
Key customers and partnerships
As of September 2023, PIXEVIA has launched five fully-automated grocery stores in partnership with a Lithuanian grocery store operator and member of the REWE Group, Iki.
Funding and financials
In May 2024, Pixevia raised EUR 1.5 million (USD 1.6 million) in a funding round led by Coinvest Capital. The company plans to use the funds for its expansion across the US and Europe, targeting mainly the DACH (Germany, Austria, and Switzerland) region.
