Wegaw provides a SaaS-based technology solution that combines satellite imagery, AI, and machine learning algorithms to monitor and forecast water and snow resources for renewable energy optimization. The company's geospatial fusion technology processes space data to identify various characteristics such as snow, water, soil humidity, and waves to forecast sustainable energy output. By amalgamating data from remote sensors on satellites with daily validated ground observations and historic data, Wegaw generates bespoke datasets for hydropower utilities, government agencies, and energy traders. The solution enables up to 50% error reduction in water forecasting, 10% increase in energy generation through water and snow melt monitoring, and approximately 5% optimization in energy trading prices. The technology achieved 93% accuracy in delivering near real-time insights compared to traditional meteorological model-based solutions. Founded in 2016 in Morges, Switzerland, the company operated in five countries and served 15 clients and more than 30 power plants as of February 2022.
