ParentSquare provides a unified school-to-home communications platform for K-12 students and staff supported by consistent metrics and reporting tools. The platform integrates with student data sources and other administrative systems and allows translation into more than 120 languages. Founded in 2011 by husband-and-wife team Anupama Vaid and Sohit Wadhwa, ParentSquare launched its platform in 2014. As of October 2022, the company has served 6.5 million users in 48 states.
ParentSquare introduced a free online School Communications Self-Assessment tool in October 2021, allowing school administrators to evaluate their school communications and identify areas for improvement.
In March 2020, the company acquired Signal Kit, another, albeit smaller, school communications app. More recently, in January 2023, the firm acquired Gabbart Communications, a provider of school website tools and a content management system, to introduce ParentSquare’s new Smart Sites module, which is reportedly the first comprehensive K-12 communications and website platform in the industry. In December 2023, the firm acquired Remind, a communication platform that connects educators with students and families, to expand its offerings.
Key customers and partnerships
In April 2020, ParentSquare partnered with Learning Explorer to give teachers access to Learning Explorers’ curated resources and curriculum tools through its platform at no additional cost during the 2019-2020 school year. In August 2022, the firm partnered with MyVRSpot, a video and digital media management service provider, to include MyVRSpot’s video messaging capabilities on its platform.
Funding and financials
In December 2020, the company raised USD 7 million in additional seed funding to develop its infrastructure, invest in its engineering team, and expand its operations nationwide. In August 2021, ParentSquare announced that it had received a significant investment from private equity firm Serent Capital. The funds will be used to accelerate ParentSquare’s growth plans, including expanding into new international markets and introducing new products and services.
