Comet ML

Comet ML provides a platform to automatically track, compare, and optimize models across the complete ML lifecycle—from training runs through production. Its feature set includes: 1) a built-in dataset store to save and track datasets during training and production; 2) a model registry that automatically tracks changes throughout the model lifecycle and allows users to compare the performance of models in production; and 3) production monitoring that tracks drift, accuracy, or error metrics, and visualizes model performance at any scale, while generating alerts when an issue occurs while in production. It also provides tools to evaluate and monitor LLMs including prompts.

In addition, the platform also provides automated experiment tracking, collaboration tools, and the ability to visualize performance across training runs and collaboration using more than 30 built-in visualizations and user-defined visualizations through Python visualization libraries such as Plotly and Matplotlib.

Comet ML provides its platform under a SaaS subscription model for up to USD 50 per user per month and includes a free plan with limited features.

In September 2024, the company launched Opik, an open-source platform to help developers and data scientists evaluate and monitor LLMs during both development and production stages. It enables users to track, test, and manage LLM applications effectively.

The company had an employee headcount of 80 across 14 countries, as of December 2022.

Key customers and partnerships

As of December 2022, Comet served more than 150 organizations including Fortune 100 companies. Notable customers include Uber, Etsy, Shopify, Ancestry, and AssemblyAI.

In June 2023, Comet partnered with Snowflake, a cloud data infrastructure provider, that enables data scientists to use the latter as their primary data source while tracking and managing their experiments using Comet.

Funding and financials

In November 2021, the company raised USD 50 million in a Series B funding round led by OpenView. The funds were utilized to expand its operations and development efforts.
