Realtime Robotics

Realtime Robotics offers a software platform designed for the automation of the programming, deployment, and control of industrial robots. It offers two main components: RapidPlan and RapidPlan Control. The first, RapidPlan, allows users to create digital twins of their workcells, import CAD files, and define targets. The software then automatically generates offline programs and interlock locations for the robots. The second, RapidPlan Control, enables collision-free operation of robotics on the factory floor by continuously monitoring and adjusting robot motions in real time. 

The company’s technology generates optimized motion plans using 3D sensors and interlocks to achieve shorter cycle time in single and multi-robot work-cells. Users can program multiple robots to work closely and avoid obstacles in unstructured and collaborative workspaces.

Key customers and partnerships

The company has entered several partnerships to develop its product offering. This includes partnerships with 1) Mitsubishi Electric (May 2024) to further integrate its technology into Mitsubishi Electric’s 3D simulators and factory automation (FA) control system devices, 2) Japan External Trade Organization (July 2023) to expand the use of industrial robots and standardize system integrator operations, 3)FANUC to integrate its plug-in Realtime’s solution RapidPlan, and DENSO, to improve its in-house flexibility in production units, for multi-robot assembly, inspection, and bin picking, 4) Siemens (September 2022) to integrate RapidPlan with Siemens Process Simulate, allowing customers to incorporate RapidPlan's capabilities directly into their existing workflow, and 5) Kawasaki Robotics (June 2022) to automate the programming, deployment and control of its industrial robots. 

I n May 2023, Realtime Robotics was announced as the official supplier for the BMW Group, to utilize RapidPlan, to improve the speed and efficiency of industrial robot programming, deployment, and control.

Funding and financials

In May 2024, Realtime Robotics raised an undisclosed amount in Series B funding from Mitsubishi Electric Corp to refine and optimize its robot work cell and runtime systems.
