Australia-based CFOAM Ltd. operates through its US subsidiary CFOAM LLC (previously known as Carbon Innovations). The parent company is listed on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX). CFOAM is a producer of carbon foam materials using coal emissions. The company focuses on two main product offerings—CFOAM carbon foam (CFOAM20, CFOAM25, CFOAM30) and CFOAM 35 HTC graphite foam.
Key customers and partnerships
In August 2021, CFOAM partnered with American Maglev Technology (AMT) to develop a cooling solution for aircraft carrier jet blast deflection (a safety device that redirects fiery blasts emitted by jets taking off) utilizing CFOAM HTC graphite form. In July 2021, CFOAM partnered with two US R&D institutions, Ohio University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology, to transform coal-derived carbon foam into traditional fiber-cementitious building materials.
In September 2019, CFOAM entered into a strategic transaction with CONSOL Energy, where CONSOL acquired a 25% stake in the parent company. As of October 2021, CFOAM was at the development stage and was yet to commercialize its solutions, but the company had been conducting laboratory-scale preliminary tests.
