Established in 2015, London-based SUPPER is a premium food delivery service with over 100 high-end restaurants on its platform—including Nobu, Zuma, and China Tang—representing around 15 Michelin-starred chefs in total. The company uses custom Japanese bikes for delivery with gyroscopic stabilization systems and thermal lining to ensure quality. As of June 2021, the company supported 130 restaurants on its platform and a customer base of 85,000 users.
SUPPER charges a commission of 20 - 25% from restaurants and a flat delivery fee of GBP 5 (USD 7) from customers, with a typical minimum order value of GBP 25 (USD 36). Generally, the price of a meal quoted on the platform is the same as the dine-in option at the restaurant. The company’s delivery riders are entitled to a fixed wage of GBP 9 (USD 13) per hour. SUPPER directly employs and trains its delivery drivers, distinguishing itself from other food delivery providers who employ gig economy workers at a lower wage. The company experienced a surge in orders during the pandemic-related lockdown, with growth of 1,200% YoY reported in November 2020.
In June 2021, the company raised GBP 1.1 million (USD 1.6 million) in a fundraising round organized by Growthdeck, with plans to raise an additional GBP 500,000 (USD 714,000) in July. SUPPER plans to use the funds raised to expand its operations in London, with an aim of increasing its restaurant partnerships to 300 and growing its customer base to 120,000 by the end of 2021. The company also plans to implement a digital marketing strategy with a focus on expanding its geographic reach in line with the development of local partner kitchens.
