German based Saperatec’s technology separates and recycles composite materials and recovers secondary raw materials. The company uses chemical liquids to separate layers of composite materials and to get saleable raw materials at the end of the process. The recycling technology can be used for beverage cartons, packaging materials, PV modules, li-ion batteries, and even car glasses. As such, the technology can be used in these industries
The company claims that, via its technology, a 100% value added product can be derived at the end of the recycling process.
As of March 2024, Saperatec was building its first recycling plant for composite packaging in Dessau, Germany, with an initial goal of processing about 18,000 tons of packaging waste per year. The company’s pilot plant can recycle 500 tons per annum.
Key customers and partnerships
In October 2022, Saperatec debuted a fully circular flexible packaging prototype based on its multi-layer delamination technique in collaboration with Wentus and Henkel.
