Founded in 2003, Parchment provides an academic credentials management system, enabling learners, educators, associations, and employers to send and receive academic credentials securely online. Parchment was founded in 2003 as Docufide, and it handled high school transcripts for colleges and university applications. Parchment's CEO Matthew Pittinsky co-founded Blackboard, a learning management services company, before co-founding Parchment in 2003.
In February 2020, the company was acquired by Brentwood Associates. Following the acquisition, Parchment merged with Credential Solutions, a higher education transcript service provider that was acquired by Brentwood Associates in 2018. The combined entity serves more than 13,000 high schools, universities, and professional organizations.
