Cognitive ToyBox is a game-based platform to improve early childhood learning for kindergarten readiness in the areas of language, literacy, math, and social-emotional skills. The company claims it is the only hybrid observation and game-based assessment platform in the market for children from birth to eight years.
Students play assessment games on a touchscreen device for an average of five minutes each week and teachers review the auto-generated reports to adjust instruction and provide personalized support.
The company was founded in 2015 out of a National Science Foundation I-Corps for Learning grant at New York University (NYU).
As of February 2020, the company’s programs were reaching over 150,000 children a year, with plans to reach more children in the US and expand its product line to support home-based providers and families.
