Norwegian startup Playpulse develops a connected exercise bike dubbed “Playpulse One” with gamification features aimed at making working out fun. The unit comes equipped with a 24-inch full HD touchscreen, high precision pedal sensor, and handlebar game controllers. The company initially tested and offered the product to gyms (B2B), but later expanded to include households (B2C) amid the rising demand for fitness equipment among households due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Playpulse One is priced at USD 1,999, and for a monthly subscription of USD 20 users can access its content library and games. Playpulse One is available for pre-order as of September 2021, and the company plans to ship the units by August 2022.
In September 2021, Playpulse raised USD 2 million in a seed funding round from investors including Courtside VC, Initial Capital, and several angel investors. The company intends to use the funds toward finalizing the product offering (including design and performance), enhancing its content library and games through partnerships, and expanding the team.
