Curai Health is a company that offers a white-label technology platform for healthcare providers to offer chat-based primary care. The AI-powered platform can be used by patients for a range of primary care consultation needs, including disease management, urgent care, and preventive care. Additionally, the platform can facilitate wellness consultations regarding mental health, sleep issues, weight loss, stress management, lifestyle changes, and nutrition. Curai’s platform additionally assists with operational functions, assisting with functions such as  clinical workflows, prescription and lab ordering, and referral management and network navigation. 

The company operates on a B2B and B2B2C basis, partnering with health systems, health plans, and digital health companies to enable the delivery of telemedicine solutions that combine the efficiencies of AI with the expertise and empathy of medical professionals. 

Key customers and partnerships

Curai partnered with labor technology platform provider WorkWhile in March 2023, to offer free virtual healthcare services to workers in select markets across the US. Through the partnership, users of the WorkWhile platform were eligible to use Curai’s platform for free, so long as they had covered at least one shift on the WorkWhile platform. Services provided for free included communicating with care teams, virtual urgent care visits, refilling pharmaceutical prescriptions, or asking general health-related questions.

Further to this, Curai partnered with Amazon Clinic’s virtual healthcare marketplace in August 2023. Through the partnership, patients using Amazon’s platform would be able to receive care via Curai Health’s platform. 

Curai also partnered with PayrollPlans, a digital ecosystem for employee benefits, in September 2023, to cover underserved workers. Through the partnership, employers using PayrollPlans’ solutions were eligible to refer their employees to Curai Health for healthcare services.

Most recently, in March 2024, Curai partnered with Tufts Medicine, a major healthcare system, to boost virtual healthcare access across Massachusetts and New Hampshire. Through the partnership, Tuft’s ‘MyTuftsMed’ app integrated a new feature allowing patients to discuss their health issues and choose between traditional in-person care or virtual assistance through Curai Health. Patients who opted for the virtual option could connect with a healthcare professional in a matter of minutes, 24/7. If needed, they could also be referred to a physician within the Tufts Medicine network for an in-person visit.

Funding and financials

Curai Health last raised funding in December 2020, where it raised USD 27.5 million in a Series B funding round led by Morningside Ventures, along with participation from existing investors General Catalyst and Khosla Ventures. The raised funds were set aside for technology innovations and expanding its range of services offered.
