NanoScent is an Israeli nanotechnology startup company founded in 2017 by Oren Gavriely and Eran Rom. The company specializes in developing innovative sensors based on nanotechnology, leveraging chemiresistors that change their electrical resistance in response to chemicals in the environment. NanoScent's flagship product is VOCID H2Confirm, a sensor-based monitoring system that continuously monitors hydrogen purity in real-time and in-line at various points of the hydrogen supply chain, from production to storage and refueling stations.
The company's nanosensors combine digital technology with nanoscale materials to rapidly detect volatile organic compounds (VOCs), gases, and hydrogen impurities onsite, providing real-time alerts in case of contamination. In June 2020, NanoScent introduced a coronavirus test kit capable of determining the presence of the virus within 30 seconds, with an accuracy rate of over 90% based on tests conducted among hundreds of patients in Israeli hospitals. The test identified asymptomatic carriers four days after infection, offering a cost-effective solution at just one dollar per test.
As of March 2023, NanoScent secured a total of USD 20 million in funding, including USD 10 million in equity and USD 10 million in non-dilutive grants. The company is backed by strategic partners like Sumitomo Chemicals and Dreamtech.
