Diligent Robotics

Diligent Robotics is a pioneering company that has developed a socially intelligent robot called Moxi to assist healthcare workers with routine, non-patient-facing tasks such as delivering medications, supplies, and lab samples. Moxi uses artificial intelligence, machine learning, and mobile manipulation capabilities to autonomously navigate hospital environments, open doors, use elevators, and adapt to specific workflows.

By taking over repetitive delivery tasks, Moxi enables nurses and clinical staff to spend more time on direct patient care, alleviating stress and burnout caused by staffing shortages exacerbated by the Covid-19 pandemic. As of September 2023, Moxi had completed over 400,000 deliveries, saving staff more than 200,000 hours of work time.

Moxi's key features include social intelligence to interact safely with people, mobile manipulation to operate doors and elevators, and human-guided learning to adapt to each hospital's unique environment and processes. The robot is designed with a friendly appearance, including heart-shaped "eyes" and a waving gesture, to bring joy to patients and families.

Since its first commercial deployment in 2020, Moxi has been successfully integrated into over 22 health systems across the US, from multi-location networks to community hospitals and academic medical centers. Prominent healthcare providers like Children's Hospital Los Angeles, Cedars-Sinai, and Northwestern Medicine have reported significant time savings, improved staff morale, and increased operational efficiency after implementing Moxi.
