Klaxit is a French carpooling platform that focuses on daily commutes and rides to work. The company was founded in 2012 with the aim of facilitating carpooling for regular commuters through its mobile app. Klaxit utilizes artificial intelligence to match drivers and passengers based on their routes, schedules, and preferences, creating local carpooling networks. Its core offerings include door-to-door carpooling for daily commutes, with features like real-time tracking, ratings, and a guaranteed ride home in case a driver cancels.
A key aspect of Klaxit's business model is partnering with local authorities and companies. Over 50 municipalities and 350 companies across France, Luxembourg, Germany, and Switzerland have collaborated with Klaxit, subsidizing rides for residents and employees. This has enabled drivers on the platform to earn remuneration for each carpool trip while making rides free or highly affordable for passengers.
In March 2023, Klaxit was acquired by BlaBlaCar, a major carpooling platform focused on long-distance rides. BlaBlaCar aims to integrate Klaxit's operations into its existing BlaBlaCar Daily service for daily commutes, leveraging Klaxit's expertise in serving local authorities and businesses. The merger is expected to be completed by 2024, combining the strengths of both platforms.
