German-based omni:us (formerly SearchInk) was initially established to use artificial intelligence (AI) to read handwritten documents. The company started to target the insurance industry with its technology and has now grown into providing a platform to automate the claims management function for insurers. omni:us’ platform is modular and integrates with core insurance systems. The solution provides for an automated First Notification of Loss (FNOL) process where submitted documents, such as invoices and police reports, are classified and analyzed using AI and Natural Language Processing (NLP) algorithms in order to be processed without human interaction. The platform uses AI to automate coverage verification and completeness checks. Key clients of the company include Allianz, Baloise, and AmTrust.
