Based in Italy, EggPlant produces high performance bioplastics using wastewater. The company produces polyhydroxybutyrate (PHB) bioplastics, a bio derived and biodegradable plastic that can be used across various applications and industries, including electronics, cosmetics, biomed, aerospace, consumer, agriculture, and packaging sectors. EggPlant uses a two phase process: the first phase is a filtering technology, followed by bacterial fermentation. The filtering technology segregates all waste chemical components, some of which are used to feed bacteria able to produce the the polyhydroxyalkanoate (PHA) biopolymer as an energy reserve.
