OPSWAT provides protection for critical infrastructure via its two main platforms: MetaDefender for threat prevention and MetaAccess for cloud access control and endpoint compliance. The modular suite of solutions offered by the company addresses eight discrete cybersecurity use cases including cross-domain solutions, secure access, file upload security, malware analysis, email security, network access control, storage security, and developer tools.
As of May 2021, OPSWAT had over 1,000 clients spanning financial services, defense, manufacturing, energy, aerospace, and transportation systems across 70 countries. As of the same date, the company employed 400 staff across its 10 offices worldwide. The company counts organizations such as ABB, American Express, IBM, and F-Secure among its clients. The company experienced year-over-year revenue growth of 40% during 2020.
OPSWAT acquired Impulse, a network access control (NAC) and software-defined perimeter (SDP) solutions provider, in December 2019, to strengthen its offerings for secure device access via OPSWAT’s MetaAccess platform. In May 2021, OPSWAT entered into a strategic alliance with Ingram Micro, a technology service provider, to expand OPSWAT customer reach in the US, while enabling Ingram Micro to access OPSWAT’s solutions. In July 2021, OPSWAT launched the “L1001” MetaDefender Kiosk—a lightweight appliance built on an Intel i9 processor that can be managed using the OPSWAT Central Management (OCM) via a plug-n-play platform. The L1001 is designed for critical infrastructure without dedicated IT staff and provides simplified manageability options with automatic one-touch updates and improved file scanning. OPSWAT acquired Bayshore Networks, a provider of cybersecurity solutions for operational technology (OT) and industrial control systems (ICS) infrastructure in July 2021. The acquisition expanded OPSWAT’s critical infrastructure protection capabilities to OT/ICS environments. Bayshore Networks’ product offerings include the OTfuse, an industrial security appliance and intrusion prevention system (IPS); NetWall USG, a security gateway for IT and OT; OTaccess, a secure remote access solution for OT assets; and Scrutiny OT, an asset discovery and flow visualization tool. OPSWAT acquired SNDBOX, a malware analysis solution provider for critical infrastructure organizations, in September 2021. SNDBOX’s malware analysis technology was integrated with OPSWAT’s MetaDefender platform to provide an effective malware detection solution called OPSWAT Malware Analysis that protects an organization’s IT/OT environment against malware attacks.
In March 2021, the company raised USD 125 million in a Series D funding round led by Brighton Park Capital. The company expects to use the proceeds to accelerate growth and global expansion. In addition, OPSWAT plans to hire an additional 100 employees over the next 3-year period. The company also indicated that it expects to be ready for a public market debut by 2021.
