Avataar’s patented 3D rendering platform allows businesses to integrate with its plug-and-play technology backed by more than 10 US patents and strategic partnerships with Facebook and Google. This allows direct-to-consumer brands to provide customers with life-size visualizations of products. A key selling point for Avataar is that it uses GenAI tools for content creation, and the lack of stringent prerequisites. If the product images are of 1080p resolution, Avataar can produce virtual renditions of them.
Using an Android or iOS mobile device, users can drag and drop several products from a retailer's catalog and test the look and feel of it in their living rooms. A rendition of a virtual refrigerator includes the ability to open and shut the door, change the color and the SKU without repositioning the virtual item, and compare them side-by-side. The platform also relays consumer behavioral insights and analytics to brands that personalize their offering for consumers. The platform monetizes via subscription pricing.
Key customers and partnerships
According to Founder and CEO Srvanth Aluru, the company reportedly works with companies such as Samsung and Pepperfry in addition to the top two ecommerce marketplaces across furniture, large appliances, and other categories. Use cases also include virtual smartphone launches by clients Aluru did not disclose.
Funding and financials
In its most recent funding round (a Series B in January 2022), it raised USD 45 million led by Tiger Global with participation from Sequoia Capital India. The platform intended to divert 70% of the funds toward technology development (i.e., product, engineering, and research) and 30% toward the expansion of its footprint beyond the US market and into the UK, Germany, and Japan.
