Supportiv is a peer-to-peer support service for mental health that matches users who are struggling with similar issues. The service is anonymous and chats are guided by moderators (psychology graduates and undergraduates) to keep conversations on track. As chats unfold, users will receive resources like articles, videos and podcasts that are relevant to the issue, leveraging the natural-language-processing capabilities of the platform. Content related to anxiety, depression, loneliness, coping, stress relief, family and relationships is available to users.
As of September 2020, Supportiv had around 500,000 peers and saw an increase of up to 400% in its web-based peer support chats during April 2020, at the peak of the Covid-19 pandemic. In March 2020, Supportiv started offering free service to health-care workers as well. A new user gets one hour of access for free and after that, it is possible to continue to use Supportiv for free by earning codes for sharing on social media. If users are not willing to share the service on social media, they can purchase access at USD 9.99 for a power hour, or at USD 19.99 per month with unlimited access.
