Texas-based Wheel enables healthcare providers to have access to clinical staff, white-label primary care and behavioral health facilities, healthcare technology, and laboratory services. The company works with both healthcare companies and individual clinicians to provide its white-label services while additionally providing clinician matchmaking services.

In November 2022, the company entered into an agreement with telehealth provider GoodRx to purchase its electronic health record, clinical management tools, and patient experience software facilities for USD 19.5 million in a cash deal. Upon closure of this deal, Wheel integrated these facilities into its telehealth platform offerings, while GoodRx continued to carry out its operations. Additionally, 20 employees of GoodRx received offers to join Wheel’s team.

In June 2024, the company launched Horizon, an AI-driven platform designed to help health plans, digital health providers, and life sciences companies scale their virtual care programs across the country. Horizon integrates a data-first EHR, Wheel's national clinical network, and various partners to form a comprehensive virtual care platform. Key features of Horizon include Predictive Care Pathways, open connectivity infrastructure for seamless integration with existing care delivery systems, and customizable patient care programs based on evidence and clinical insights. Care programs can be tailored to address specific health conditions or populations.

The company claimed that, as of July 2024, it covered over 4.5 million lives.

Key customers and partnerships

Most recently, in April 2024, Wheel partnered with infant technology company Owlet to allow Wheel's clinical staff to prescribe Owlet's FDA-approved, wire-free exclusive product, BabySat, an infant pulse oximetry sock. Through the partnership, Wheel would manage the BabySat virtual telehealth services platform. Additionally, caregivers could obtain prescriptions for BabySat and the device directly through Wheel's portal or its clinicians. Wheel then worked with medical equipment suppliers who can bill insurers for the product, thus easing caregivers' burden.

In March 2024, Wheel partnered with prescription drug provider Mark Cuban Cost Plus Drug Company and data sharing platform provider Health Gorilla to expand its integrated virtual healthcare ecosystem. Through these partnerships, Wheel’s customers could receive home delivery of prescription drugs through Cost Plus Drugs and access lab and diagnostic services through Health Gorilla.

In February 2024, Wheel partnered with Talkspace, an online behavioral health company, to improve access to medical and mental health services virtually across the US. Through the partnership, patients were able to easily connect with healthcare providers through Wheel’s platform, and match them with a dedicated therapist through the Talkspace platform.
