Founded in 2015, DroneBlocks provides a free app and curriculum to promote drone-based computer science education. Students of all ages and learning styles can gain an understanding of the Python, JavaScript, and Blockly coding languages in addition to science, math, and logic by programming drone missions in the classroom. The company also offers a membership-based platform for schools and other educational institutions. Members also gain full access to all curriculum and software for the Tello and Tello EDU drones (developed by Ryze Technology) as well as the Tello Simulator, which allows users to learn coding in a virtual learning environment or without a drone. The platform features cloud-based lessons and a library of more than 100 activities.
In January 2021, DroneBlocks collaborated with leading educational organizations by becoming a STEM.org-accredited Educational Experience and a partner of the Computer Science Teachers Association (CSTA).
In April 2021, the company launched a three-part Advanced Python course as part of its continued efforts to make computer science engaging.
