Based in Canada, Horizon Blockchain Games (Horizon) is a Web3-based game developer and infrastructure provider.
The company offers a modular, all-in-one Web3 developer platform and smart wallet called Sequence, which enables developers to build Ethereum compatible Web3 apps including video games. Its features include APIs for integrating NFTs into any app, onramps for acquiring digital assets with credit or debit cards, a relayer for facilitating gas-less transactions, and nodes for real-time blockchain and data access. The platform can also be used to create marketplaces and allows users to create non-custodial multi-chain smart contract wallets.
Horizon has also developed its own free-to-play Web3 game called Skyweaver, powered by Sequence. Skyweaver is a cross-platform trading card game, where players can own, trade, sell, and gift SFT (semi-fungible token) cards. SFT cards are fungible until they are redeemed, at which point they lose their value and become non-fungible. The game is deployed on the Polygon PoS and is available in both mobile and PC versions. As of June 2023, it was in open beta.
Key customers and partnerships
Notable customers using Sequence include BoomLand, Wyre, Niftyswap, and Cool Cats.
In March 2024, the company partnered with Google Cloud to bring its full-stack Web3 gaming development suite to Google Cloud users.
Funding and financials
The company’s last funding round was in October 2022, when it raised USD 40 million in Series A co-led by Brevan Howard Digital and Morgan Creek Digital. It had earmarked the funds for scaling products, growing its ecosystem, and recruitment.
