Kwikvet solves over 90% of the issues that would otherwise require a time-consuming, stressful visit to a brick and mortar veterinary clinic. A data-driven company, KwikVet uses disease-frequency data to equip veterinarians with an engineered medicine & test bag, supported by lab manufacturers looking to place the best veterinary solutions at the point of service. Veterinary clinics are a growing $30B market, fragmented into about 30,000 mom & pop clinics. The largest national player  - Banfield - has only about a 10% share. The second player - VCA with a 3% share - was acquired by Banfield for $9.1 billion in early 2017. Medicated pet food suppliers - that need the VCPR KwikVet can provide in order to reach clients - are also actively traded, including the recent acquisition of Blue Buffalo by General Mills for $8 billion.

KwikVet offers app-based, on-demand veterinary house-call services for dogs and cats. Through the app, the pet parents can request an immediate home visit by a qualified veterinary professional for all pet-related health issues except for surgeries and life-threatening emergencies. The system works like Uber (ride-hailing app), where a request goes to the nearest veterinary professional available; if he/she declines, it goes to the next available person and so on. The customers can also request a video chat consultation. The company charges USD 129 for a house call and USD 29 for a telehealth call. The company is also planning to introduce KwikVet Shop for online pharmaceuticals and supply kits for veterinary professionals.

The company operates in France, UK, Germany, Ireland and Spain. In February 2019, the company merged with HouseMyDog, a similar company headquartered in the UK, to mutually expand its reach to more than 25,000 dog sitters on its platforms. As of February 2019, Gudog was considered to be the market leader in Spain. In February 2021, the company announced the acquisition of Host My Pet, a Finnish online pet sitting services company, for an undisclosed amount. The acquisition is aimed at expanding operations into Nordic countries, starting with Finland. Urban Leash is an on-demand pet care service provider that offers dog walking and cat sitting services. The app is GPS-embedded, which allows pet owners to track the whereabouts of pets. Its dog walking services and cat services are are offered in Boston within the Fenway and Jamaica Plain neighborhoods, whereas cat sitting services are also provided in several other areas in Brookline. Urban Leash also provides care services for small animals, such as feeding fish, small birds, and small mammals. Administering medication is offered without any fees.

The company’s software provides care teams with the ability to offer live video consultations, flexible messaging, and cross-team communication. IVC Evidensia operated more than 1,500 clinics across 12 countries in Europe as of February 2021. The company also has an employee base of more than 22,000, including 6,0000 veterinary professionals.The acquisition will allow PawSquad to expand geographically while also providing pet owners accessibility to IVC Evidendsia’s veterinary professionals through PawSquad’s telehealth platform.
