Quizizz

Founded in 2015 by Ankit Gupta and Deepak Cheenath, Quizizz is an education platform that allows teachers to create gamified quizzes and interactive lessons designed to generate immediate student feedback. Although similar to Kahoot! in terms of educational technique, Quizizz offers two application modes–a real-time formative evaluation, and an extracurricular assignment arranged by the teacher. Kahoot!, on the other hand, relies on real-time evaluation, testing, and classroom discussions. Quizizz also allows students to answer questions independently at their own pace, unlike Kahoot! which brings students together in a classroom simulation. 

The platform contains more than 30 million quizzes from primary school mathematics to higher education that teachers can use and customize. Teachers can also create quizzes and share them among peers. During 2020, students answered more than 13 billion questions on the platform. As of June 2021, the platform had more than 60 million monthly active users and was used in more than 120 countries, including more than 80% of US schools. Students answered more than 300 million questions on Quizizz each week.  

In March 2021, Quizizz raised USD 12.5 million in Series A funding to expand its school and corporate customer support team, and its international user base. In June 2021, the company raised USD 31.5 million in a Series B funding round to expand its US and India teams, and continue its international expansion through partnerships.
