Thousand Fell manufactures recyclable sneakers, with its core product made using 12 main biodegradable or recyclable ingredients including castor bean, aloe vera, natural and recycled rubber, coconut husk, sugar cane, and recycled water bottles. Thousand Fell operates a closed-loop system in partnership with UPS and TerraCycle, a recycling platform, which allows customers to return their used sneakers for recycling. The company expects 3,000 pairs per quarter to be recycled by 2021, with capacity to scale this up to 6,000 pairs. In November 2020, Thousand Fell also announced the creation of the first 100% recyclable shoe.
