UK drug discovery company Optibrium has acquired BioPharmics, a specialist in 3D computational drug design, for an undisclosed amount. The two companies had previously collaborated on developing molecular docking and similarity software. The acquisition will bolster Optibrium's capabilities in small molecule design, optimization, and data analysis by combining BioPharmics' algorithms and software for 3D drug design with Optibrium's Stardrop platform. The integration of the technologies is expected to improve 3D modeling techniques for traditional small molecules and beyond Rule-of-Five compounds in drug discovery.
