Alchemy provides a platform for web3 developers to build and scale dApps without having to manage the blockchain infrastructure in-house. The platform provides a suite of SDKs, APIs, and other solutions designed for use on layer-1 and layer-2 blockchains such as Ethereum, Solana, and Polygon. Popular projects that use Alchemy include Augur, Cryptokitties, Radar Relay, OpenSea, and Trust Wallet.
Alchemy’s infrastructure service Supernode offers node-as-a-service, allowing developers to connect to the Ethereum blockchain through an API to deploy dApps. Supernode incorporates a proprietary coordinator service to ensure that the data stored on the nodes are correct, in real time, and in sync.
The company provides a dApp development tool called Create Web3 Dapp (CW3D) , which allows developers to construct dApps in four minutes, according to the company. The tool is open-sourced and provides baseline templates for building dApps such as DeFi exchanges and NFT marketplaces. It is designed for people with some technical knowledge. It also offers a no-configuration, in-house suite of developer tools called Build, which allows developers to carry out prototyping and debugging of dApps. Build also includes an explorer tool that allows developers to search through historical requests to find specific bugs, performance optimizations, and patterns of errors. In addition, Alchemy provides a platform to monitor and receive alerts about a dApp’s health, performance, and user behavior, as well as a ChatGPT plugin–AlchemyAI–that allows developers to query and conduct analysis of blockchains in real-time.
In September 2023, Alchemy acquired blockchain data indexing platform Satsuma for an undisclosed amount. Satsuma’s subgraphs were to be integrated into Alchemy’s product suite to help developers build apps faster by extracting and transforming blockchain data.
Alchemy also supports Web3 startups through its investment arm Alchemy Ventures and offers marketing services to create awareness for new dApps.
Funding and financials
Alchemy raised USD 200 million in a Series C-1 funding round in February 2022 co-led by Lightspeed Venture Partners and Silver Lake at a valuation of USD 10.2 billion. The company aimed to use the fresh funds to expand its workforce and invest in the web3 ecosystem.
