Paris-based Phenix operates a web and mobile platform that provides food management solutions for selling or donating excess food or else providing them as animal feed or compost. In 2019, Phenix acquired Graapz, which resells unsold fruits and vegetables.
As of October 2024, Phenix had over 30,000 partnerships to procure unsold goods and its app had over 2.5 million users and redistributed over 330,000 tons of unsold food, which was the equivalent to over 200 million meals in Europe. The company also worked with over 1,500 charitable organizations and has expanded to Denmark, Spain, Switzerland, Italy, and Portugal since its launch in 2014. In June 2021, the company expanded to Belgium by partnering with 1,000 retail outlets to use its app.
Phenix also claimed that, as of October 2024, it had saved ~120,000 meals per day, which was equivalent to saving ~60 tons of food waste daily.
