Based in Israel, 3PLW produces pure ‘polymer grade’ lactic acid from food waste. The company has developed a proprietary biochemical production process based on Anaerobic Digestion Technology involving hydrolysis and fermentation. The lactic acid is then sold to food and beverage businesses as well as into industrial and personal care markets. The company has also formed partnerships with ‘Innovation Nation’ (R&D project to produce bioplastics from waste ) and ‘closing the loop’ (upcycling scrap and bioproducts) which have contributed to 3PLW’s growth. The company’s most recent round of funding was in June 2019 when it raised USD 5 million to develop food waste derived, high performance compostable packaging.
