YPC Technologies is a Canadian company that specializes in building a robotic kitchen claimed to be capable of cooking “thousands of recipes” (eg: vegetable soups, risottos, etc.) using fresh ingredients. The robot integrates cooking appliances with robotics, computer vision, and artificial intelligence (AI). The system is available as a Kitchen-as-a-Service (KaaS) for restaurants and cafeterias, with subscriptions ranging between CAD 3,000–CAD 10,000 (USD 2,350–USD 7,850) per month.
In October 2020, the company raised CAD 1.8 million (approximately USD 1.37 million) in a seed round co-led by Hike Ventures and Real Ventures. The funds will be utilized to expand its engineering team and to launch the beta version of the robot. In December 2020, the company announced its plans to launch a pilot program with an undisclosed multinational and set up a test center in a commercial kitchen in 2021.
