GRZ Technologies, a Swiss company founded as a spin-off from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne (EPFL), specializes in offering hydrogen storage solutions. The company’s products include hydrogen-based power-to-power systems, thermal hydrogen compressors, long-duration metal hydride storage solutions, and a modular methanation solution. Its “HyCo” product is a plug-and-play solution for on-site hydrogen production and compression for high-pressure delivery. It can compress hydrogen up to 200 bar (2,900 psi).
Key customers and partnerships
GRZ’s partners include Gaznat, a natural gas supplier, with which it has developed a novel methanation technology and is preparing to launch a methanation reactor (GreenGas) is being prepared as of February 2024.
In September 2020, the company announced that will supply fuel cell systems from Hyundai Motor Company, to develop a stationary power supply system to generate electricity at peak times.
GRZ works with international sales partners to deliver its solutions globally. These partners include AMPO (Spain), INERSO (Switzerland), SHG Supreme Hydrogen (Sweden), Simplifhy (Italy), Liquiline (Norway) Milani (Italy), and Skai Energies (Australia).
Funding and financials
GRZ’s investors include Sabancı Ventures, which made an undisclosed investment in November 2023. In addition, the Auto AG Group (Switzerland) and the fischer group (Germany) acquired stakes in the company in August 2022. In March 2019, the company raised CHF 100,000 (around USD 100,630) in debt financing from the Foundation for Technological Innovation (FIT), Switzerland.
